Bad mothers union
Conor from Bad Mothers Union knew he wanted to use photography as the focus of the album artwork; "I had it in my head that I wanted a photograph cover, as opposed to a drawing. For some reason those are usually my favourite covers."
I suggested we get in touch with a photographer and friend of the band James Kelly (@lavieengorg) who has done work with Peer Pleasure, a branch of the bmu universe.
We knew we were looking for images that had a melancholic and dreamy feel. James sent us over a selection of his work and we selected pieces that felt right for the record and its singles.
The album cover
The album cover features the hand printed logo I created for the band and some handwritten text of mine.

New Enemy
New enemy were releasing a cover of Linkin park's "One Step Closer" and wanted something that fit their aesthetic but felt unique to them and their branding. We went through a number of iterations before we landed on this version.
One Step closer
I created a new interpretation of the soldier with dragonfly wings. New enemy members are very anti war and didn't necessarily want to use an image of an american soldier. I did some research and found out about this famous photograph taken called "Leap into Freedom". It features a soldier escaping over the berlin wall and this image became an iconic image of the cold war. I decided to use this soldier as it felt more in line with the band ethos. I merged the image with gothic bat wings, an ode to the original image.
